"Hope & Faith"

Most things I see, are in black and white.
I look forward to bed, and a good sleep at night.

For the days are long, mostly filled with despair.
In a world that hardly knows, that I am even there.

Staring in the mirror, looking off into space.
Seeing no future, a life soon to be erased.

Hope is unknown, for what would it be?
To feel there's something, more than I see?

A God who cares! How could that be?
"I hardly believe; He'd take interest in me!"

Belief in things, not seen but are true.
A life after death, with purpose to pursue?

Kneeling in faith, I knocked on His door.
It opened up feelings, to my heart's very core.

No visions, no sounds, no words, can explain.
The feelings of hope and love, that remained.

And now it is certain, for the colors are made clear.
God does love me, and watches over me here!

POET'S COMMENTS

So many of God's children live a life without knowing their divine origin. Life is for today. They have never been taught of a Heavenly Father, a Savior, an eternal plan. At some point a void fills the heart and questions emerge. Lack of hope results in despair.

"Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life." (Proverbs 13:12)

Spiritually lacking, they may ask questions; Where did I come from? Why am I here? What happens after this life? Who am I? Why am I here?

In general, scholars and educators dismiss these inquiries, and any belief of divine creation. They suggest that everything is an accident, random, a chance. Or, they may take a firm stand; "it could be, but you cannot prove it!" Of course, these elitists have no proof that their explanations are valid. Somethings just are; our feelings, our intelligence, air, space, night and day, etc. And that is why we eventually accept, there is something greater than ourselves. Flimsy intellectual logic provides no solace. But God does! His peace is definitive.

"Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." (Romans 15:13)

Inside of each person born to this earth is, "the light of Christ."

"In him was life; and the life was the light of men... That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." (John 1:4,9)

It is that inner light that tells us the truth. It comes as a feeling that cannot be scientifically proven. The feeling offers hope. If pursued it leads to faith, and then action, followed by answers. The man in the poem exercised a small degree of faith.

"And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;" (John 5:15)

He followed an admonition. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:" (Matthew 7:7)

The man saw in black and white most of his life, until he offered a sincere prayer of faith. Then his mind and heart saw things in color. What a gift, hope and faith can be! It tells us that God does live, that He cares, and that there is a plan!
