"Free From Hypocrisy"

Does hypocrisy haunt me day and night?
As I travel down life's road?

Do I judge other's harshly?
With a heart that can be cold?

Do I weigh their sins as heavy?
Ignoring all my own?

Thinking I am worthy,
To sit on higher thrones?

Lord, help me to stop and think!
And see them through Thine eyes!

The ones who suffer much in pain.
The ones we treat unkind.

They, who have fallen.
Let me lift with care.

That our burdens brought together.
Will be lighter then to bear.

Father, help me love them!
As Thou hast shown me!

That forever in Thy kingdom!
We all return to Thee.

POET'S COMMENTS

Perhaps the greatest sin and test in our lives will be overcoming hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is full of rationalization, judging, justifying, deflecting, minimizing one's own faults while amplifying another's. So often we are quick to condemn others, and slow to incriminate ourselves. We judge ourselves as righteous, and others as sinners. Our Savior talked about casting the mote out of our own eye. He also proclaimed with what judgment we judge others, so would we be judged.

As we move toward being one with Christ, it is essential that we live what we believe. Christ's example was laid out before us. He saw all God's children, through His Father's eyes. We must do the same. Love as Christ loved. Live as Christ lived. Being as Christ means loving, lifting, reaching, forgiving, and seeing the good in others. May God bless us with the charity that sanctifies our soul.
