"Anger's Prison"

There is a dark and lonely dungeon. It's cold, and conceals the Light.
The sadness fraught, by thine own choice, as pride destroys what's right.

Shackled by the words that wound! Thy chains of anger grow!
Truth now hidden! Love removed! The illness spreads and flows!

A bitter canker can emerge, as ugly thoughts occur!
Infectious poisons, a lethal dose, and spiritually toxic spurs!

For blame maligns! And blindness leads! Then forgiveness is unheard!
Misunderstood! No matter now! Misjudgments are assured!

Verdicts of mistrust, and pain! They taunt, and haunt thy soul!
And friendship lost by untrue lies! The cancer takes its toll!

Blessings passed. Expected now! Entitled by demand?
No longer filled with gratitude! Coveting takes command!

"Ignorant accusations! Revengeful deeds that maim!
Will never heal thy wounded soul! Nor eliminate thy pain!"

"The festering prison of malcontent, if nurtured by thy thoughts!
Will reap despair to learn too late, that no one was at fault!"

"Oh, that thou, couldst quickly bear, charity in thy heart!
To never judge, nor to distort, or rip one's life apart!"

POET'S COMMENTS

This poem attempts to describe the sadness, and destruction that anger brings to oneself and others. It offers no cure or solution for pain, but rather it amplifies and magnifies bitterness. Its foundation cemented in pride It is accompanied with a myriad of sins. The damage it inflicts at times, is unrepairable. We must choose to never let it be a part of our lives.

Some may justify that God Himself has been angry. Their defense would be in error. God's wrath or anger is categorized as righteous indignation. It is fair, justified, and more a consequence of man's rejection of warnings and counsel given for generations. God's actions are controlled, offered with clarity, decided based on man's use of free agency and choice.

"The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy." (Psalms 145:8)

Now man's anger is founded on his uncontrolled actions and lack of mastery over the flesh. But Our Father and Jehovah have given loving encouragement to their children here on earth.

"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city." (Proverbs 16:32)

"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:" (Ephesians 4:31)

Because anger is contrary to every virtue known to heaven, its destructive powers are manifested by pride, hatred, selfishness, intolerance, deception, dishonesty, meanness, revenge, and all forms of abuse. Satan himself revels in the contention, chaos, and pain it produces. It eradicates love, compassion, and kindness. It draws men away from God, and that which is holy.

Is there a antidote to eliminate anger? I think there is! Its cure is "charity."

"And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."
(Moroni 7:45)

When anger starts to rear its ugly face, what should one do? Cloth thyself in charity!
